HERE WE GO AGAIN - PILGRIMMAGE #4

CAMINO DEL NORTE & PRIMATIVO:

In two weeks, I am planning to begin another pilgrimage across the northern coast of Spain and then cutting through a primitive/ natural region and ending up in Santiago; a short nine years after my first arrival.

I am excited to be on another foot-journey; and anxious about the difficulty. But as we pilgrims - pellerin - pilgre - peregrino's all know, THE WAY ALWAYS PROVIDES.

As I am able and have wifi, I plan to blog a bit, so join along if you like!

CAMINO DEL NORTE (Tan Itenerary Below):
The Camino del Norte or Northern Way is the Camino route taking pilgrims along the wonderful Northern coast of ‘Green Spain’ from the Basque Country, across Cantabria, Asturias and on to Santiago de Compostela, in Galicia. Along the way, you will discover fascinating cities and fishing villages, swim in beautiful sandy beaches and taste delicious seafood. Coastal beauty and foodie culture are at their best on this Camino route

CAMINO PRIMITIVO (Green Itenerary Below):
The Camino Primitivo or Original Camino is the oldest Camino de Santiago route, as this was the route followed by King Alfonso II the Chaste in the 9th century, from the city of Oviedo, in Asturias, to Santiago de Compostela. This was the first Camino de Santiago trail when most of Spain was under Moorish control. The first stage of the Camino Primitivo, across the mountains, is one of the most challenging of all Camino routes but the scenery is breathtaking. The terrain will be sometimes rocky but often times it will be muddy and you need to be well prepared for this journey both physically and in terms of gear.Thankfully, there are plenty albergues on your way and you can make stops even if you do this camino unprepared. One of the best aspects of the Camino Primitivo are the locals; very friendly and helpful to pilgrims. You will not find crowds of pilgrims here so the experience is not over-commercialized.
